Indians Sneak Past Cobras in SAC Tilt

SALISBURY, N.C. – The Coker women's lacrosse team dropped a 12-9 South Atlantic Conference game to the Catawba College Indians on Saturday (Mar. 28) afternoon.

After trailing the Indians 2-0 early on, the Cobras would hold a slim 6-5 lead heading into the break. The Cobra offense would go cold to start the second half, which led to Catawba's 6-0 run to take an 11-6 lead. The Navy and Yellow would outscore the Indians 3-1 over the last 11 minutes to make the final score 12-9.

Mackenzie Baker netted four goals, collected four draw controls and caused three turnovers to lead the Cobras. Claudia Jenkins added three goals, while Shannon Jessop and Lindsay Ordemann added one goal apiece. Defensively, Kaitlyn Vela made six saves in 60 minutes of action.

Coker will play host to the Lenoir-Rhyne University Bears on Wednesday (Apr. 1) in SAC action. The game is slated for a 3 p.m. start.
