HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker College women's lacrosse player Marabeth Durden has been named the South Atlantic Conference Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced today. This is her second time being named SAC Defensive Player of the Week this season.
Durden recorded a total of 12 draw controls, four ground balls and four caused turnovers last week, as Coker won at Brevard and fell at Newberry. She also scored two goals in the Cobras' win over Brevard.
Durden finished the regular season tied for sixth in the conference with 46 draw controls. She is also second on the team in both caused turnovers (19) and ground balls (36).
A freshman defender from Orlando, Fla., Durden is an education major with a concentration in early childhood education. She is the daughter of Mitzi and Karl Sheppard and Michael and Lisa Durden.
The Cobra women will finish their inaugural season of competition on Wednesday (April 16) on the road at the University of Mount Olive. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
