Coker's Kimball, Ferone, Baker, and Lopez earn All-SAC Honors

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Four members of the Coker women's lacrosse team were named to South Atlantic Conference all-conference  teams for the 2014 season, the league office announced on Wednesday (Apr. 16).  Those four individuals include defender Kaitlyn Kimball, attack Hayley Ferone, midfielder Mackenzie Baker, and goalkeeper Mandy Lopez.

Kimball was the lone member of the Cobra club to be selected to the All-SAC first team.  The freshman from Winter Springs, Fla. played in all 13 regular season games this year, and headed the defense with 31 ground balls and 24 caused turnovers.  Kimball is an undecided major, and the daughter of Ronald and Emily Kimball and the sister of Tyler Kimball.

Ferone was the second member selected from Coker, and landed a spot on the All-SAC second team. She played in all 13 regular season games this season, racking up 31 total points with 24 goals and seven assists, while tallying 29 ground balls.  Ferone is an Art Therapy major and the daughter of Ed and Debbie Ferone.  She also has four siblings: Ashley, Christopher, Brianna, and Gregory.

Joining Ferone on the All-SAC second team was, freshman Mackenzie Baker.  Baker led the Coker offense this year with 38 goals, which was good enough for fifth place overall in the conference.  She also added six assists to the stat sheet, finalizing her at 44 total points through 12 games played.  Lastly, she led the team in draw controls with 62.  Baker is an undecided major from Orlando, Fla.  She is the daughter of Debbi and Wayne Baker, and the sister of Logan Baker. 

Many Lopez was the final Coker member selected, earning a spot on the All-SAC honorable mention squad.  Lopez is third in the conference in saves, with 127 in 12 games played.  She is also fourth in the conference with a 44.3 save percentage.  Lopez, from Winter Springs Fla., is a Culinary Management and Public Relations major, and is the daughter of Ruben and Stacey Lopez, and the sister of Ruben Joshua Lopez.

Coker will play their final game of the regular season this Wednesday (Apr. 18) against Mount Olive.  Game time is slated for a 4:00 p.m. start time.
