Coker Women's Lacrosse Falls to Edinboro

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker women's lacrosse team dropped a 17-5 non-conference game to Edinboro on Thursday (Mar. 20) at Byerly Park.

Mackenzie Baker got things started for the Cobras after scoring the games first goal just two minutes in.  Edinboro however quickly responded just 14 seconds later to tie the game at 1-1.  Coker then answered with another goal by Danielle Holcomb to take the 2-1 lead, but the Fighting Scots rallied back to take the next six scores and an 11-3 advantage at halftime.

Coker's offense struggled in the second half as they only produced two goals.  The defense picked up the slack by holding the visiting team to just six second half goals, but the first half deficit was too much for the Cobras to overcome.

Baker led the team with two goals and four draw controls on the day, while Holcomb, Hayley Ferone and Shannon Jessop all had one goal apiece.

The Cobras will look to bounce back this Saturday (Mar. 22) as they travel to Lenoir-Rhyne to compete in a South Atlantic Conference competition.  Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
