Coker Falls to Kutztown, 12-7

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker women's lacrosse team dropped a non-conference competition to Kutztown University on Wednesday (Mar. 19) by a score of 12-7 at Byerly Park.

The Golden Bears jumped out to a quick 2-0 advantage after two goals in the first five minutes.  Coker would then rally back and take three of the next four goals to tie the game at 3-3 with just 10 minutes remaining in the half.  Kutztown however, proceeded to score five unanswered goals to give them the 8-3 lead at the break.

In the final 30 minutes, play intensified as both teams had an equal 15 fouls given.  The two teams would battled to a 4-4 second half draw, but Kutztown's first half cushion would ultimately lead to their 12-7 win. 

Leading the way for the Cobras offensively was Hayley Ferone, Mackenzie Baker, and Ashlyn Burgett who all scored two goals each.  Defensively, Mandy Lopez was tough to score on between the posts as she secured 17 saves.

Coker will be back in action on Wednesday (Mar. 20) to host Edinboro in a non-conference competition.  Game time is slated for a 4:00 p.m. start time.
