Cobras Host Bulldogs in Inaugural SAC Contest

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker women's lacrosse team will faceoff with the Wingate University Bulldogs in its first-ever South Atlantic Conference game on Saturday (Mar. 1) at Byerly Park.

The Navy and Yellow are looking to improve to 2-1 on the season after a 15-5 rout of Young Harris in their last match. Mackenzie Baker and Hayley Ferone lead Coker offensively with nine and eight points, respectively. Baker has found the back of the net seven times and handed out two assists for her nine points, while Ferone has two helpers and six goals to total her eight points. Danielle Holcomb and Shannon Jessop both have five goals apiece, which is tied for third on the team. Defensively Lindsay Ordemann has picked up 11 ground balls, while goalie Mandy Lopez has made 25 stops so far this season.

The Bulldogs are 1-0 overall after picking up a 16-10 win over Methodist in their season opener. Offensively, Wingate is led by the duo of Laura Swanson and Allie Holland, while Jayda Lynch controls the defense from between the pipes. Swanson and Holland have both tallied three goals apiece on the season and Lynch has made 11 saves on 27 shots faced.
