Alicia Fajardo Sets School Record in First Round of Patsy Rendleman Invitational

SALISBURY, N.C. – After the first round of play at the Country Club of Salisbury, the Coker University women's golf team sits in eighth place in the Patsy Rendleman Invitational on Monday (Oct. 7). The team finished with a combined score of 304 (+16). 

Alicia Fajardo led the way for the Cobras, shooting a 70 (-2), which has her tied for second individually for the tournament. Fajardo had six birdies in round one, and shot an eagle on the fourth hole. Fajardo's round of 70 (-2), set a Coker women's golf school record for the lowest score in a single round of play.  

Taylor Mayers shot a 75 (+3) with five birdies in round one, placing her tied for 16th individually.  Jordan White finished round one shooting a 78 (+6), and Katie Smith shot an 81 (+9). 

"Our team's performance was very encouraging today," said coach Jackson Bailey. "I'm very proud of Alicia for setting a school record. We are eager to see how tomorrow's round will unfold."

The Cobras will begin round two of the Patsy Rendleman Invitational at the Country Club of Salisbury on Tuesday (Oct. 7). Smith will lead off for the Cobras at 8:40, White will follow at 8:50, Mayers at 9:00, and Fajardo will tee off at 9:10. Live scoring can be found at www.cokercobras.com
