Cobras In Third At SAC Championship After Near Record-Setting Round

GREENEVILLE, TENN. – The Coker College women's golf team shot an opening round team score of 305 on Sunday (Apr. 9) at the South Atlantic Conference Championship, leaving the Cobras in a tie for third place on the team leaderboard with 36 holes to go.

The team's round of 305 is the second-lowest round in Coker women's golf history, just one stroke higher than the record of 304.

Players one through five all played consistently for the Navy and Gold, all five shooting sub-80 rounds. Angela Luna, Amber Winburn and Kelli Smith all fired rounds of 76, leaving all three in a tie for 13th on the individual leaderboard. Bella Harris was just a stroke behind, carding a round of 77, while Taylor Mayers signed off on a round of 79.

Tusculum sits atop the team leaderboard, shooting a round of 298. Lise Malherbe of Lincoln Memorial is the individual overnight leader. She carded a round of 71.

The Cobras will tee off in the final group in round two (Apr. 10), teeing off hole number one from 10:45 a.m. to 11:21 a.m.
