Cobras Claim Seventh at Wingate Intercollegiate Challenge

MONROE, N.C. – The Coker College women's golf team shot a team score of 329 during the final round of the Wingate Intercollegiate Challenge. The Cobras finished with a team score of 657, which left them in seventh place on the leaderboard. 

Angela Luna and Kelli Smith led the way for the Cobras. Luna fired back-to-back rounds of 81 for a 162 tournament score, while Smith shot a final round of 79 to finish at the same 162 tournament score. Both players finished in a tie for 16th on the individual leaderboard. Bella Harris carded a round of 85 on day two, to finish with a two-day score of 166. Taylor Mayers fired a final round of 84 for a 170 36-hole score, while Amber Winburn signed off on a final round of 92 for a 175 tournament score.

Wingate took home the team title. The Bulldogs fired round of 321 and 317 for a 638 team score. Christie Blaurock of Young Harris was the individual medalist. She shot rounds of 78 and 76 for a 154 two-day score.

The Cobras will be back in action on Monday (Apr. 3) for the SAC Preview in Greeneville, Tenn. at the Link Hills Country Club.
