Luna Leads Cobras to Ninth Place Finish

SALISBURY, N.C. – The Coker College women's golf team wrapped up its fall season with a ninth place finish at the Patsy Rendleman Invitational. The ladies shot a day two total of 322, resulting in a two-day score of 646 on the par 72 Country Club of Salisbury.

The Navy and Yellow were led by freshman Angela Luna who fired a second round 76 to finish with a two-day score of 153. Luna would finish in a tie for eleventh individually. Junior Taylor Demby shot consecutive rounds of 80, resulting in a tournament total of 160. Senior Mallory Thompkins and sophomore Taylor Gaskins finished with two-day totals of 166 and 167, after rounds of 84 and 82 on day two respectively. Freshman Margaret Mills closed with a round of 85, resulting in a 180 tournament total.

Converse College narrowly took the team title with a two-day score of 613, bettering South Atlantic Conference foe Queens by two strokes. Maddisen Cox of Converse was the individual medalist with a one under tournament total of 143.

The ladies head into their offseason and will not be back in action until Feb. 2, when they head to Kiawah Island, S.C. for the Tusculum Kiawah invitational.
