Cobra Women Place Twelfth at Smoky Mountain Intercollegiate

SEVIERVILLE, TENN. – A trio of top 40 finishes helped propel the Cobra women's golf team to a 12th place finish in its season opening tournament, the Smoky Mountain Intercollegiate, on Sunday (Sept. 7). Angela Luna, Taylor Demby and Mallory Thompkins each shot sub-80 scores during the final round to earn spots in the top 40.

Luna finished 22nd after carding a 77 (+5) during the second round, while Demby fired a team low 74 (+2) earning a tie for 32nd. Thompkins placed 38th overall with a second round score of 80 (+8). Rounding out the field for the Cobras was Margaret Mills with a score of 92 (+20) and Taylor Gaskins with a score of 97 (+25).

Lee University took home the tournament championship, with West Florida taking second and Savannah College of Art and Design placing third.

The Cobras will be back in action on Sept. 22-23 in Etowah, N.C. at the Etowah Intercollegiate.
