Coker Women’s Golf Opens Season at Smoky Mountain Intercollegiate

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. – The Coker College women's golf team will make their season debut this weekend (Sept. 6-7) at the Smoky Mountain Intercollegiate hosted by Carson-Newman University.

The traveling five for the Cobras will be senior Mallory Thompkins, junior Taylor Demby, sophomore Taylor Gaskins and the freshman duo of Angela Luna and Margaret Mills.

Demby led the squad last year with an 80.4 scoring average, which was good enough for an All-SAC second team selection. Thompkins finished last season with an 82.7 scoring average, which was second best for the Navy and Yellow. Gaskins carded a 92 scoring average in her freshman campaign. Luna and Mills will both be making their collegiate debut this weekend.

The tournament is a two-day, 36-hole event beginning Saturday morning at the Highlands Course at Sevierville Golf Club, in Sevierville, Tenn.
