Strong Final Round Paces Cobras to Fourth Place Finish

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College women's golf team shot a two round total of 657 (+81) to finish fourth (out of 18 teams) in the Hilton Head Lakes Invitational.

The Cobras shot an opening round 333, but followed up with a strong second round 324. The second round total was good enough for fifth lowest round of the day and third lowest round on the season for Coker.

The Navy and Yellow were led by sophomore Taylor Demby who shot 78 and 82 for a two round total of 160.  She finished in a tie for 11th individually.  Sophomore Tensley Clowser's 164 two round total (79, 85) was good enough for a tie for 23rd, while freshman Amber Harman shot 85, 83 for a two round total of 168.  Senior Krista Thorpe and junior Mallory Thompkins improved on their first round totals shooting 79 and 80 in the second round, after opening rounds of 91 and 92 respectively.

Limestone College was able to bring home the title with a playoff victory over Wingate University.  Both teams shot two round totals of 632.  King University's Elizabeth Swallow shot two rounds of 76 for a total of 152, which was good enough to bring home the individual title.

The ladies are back in action on March 23, as they head to Pinehurst, N.C. for the Pinehurst Challege.
