Cobras Finish 12th at Pirate Invitational

POOLER, GA. - The Coker College women's golf team shot a second round 347 (+59) at the Armstrong Pirate Women's Invitational.  Their two round total of 690 (+114) landed them a 12th place finish.

Temperatures in the 40's and wind chills around freezing made scoring difficult on the second day as only two teams were able to better their first day score.

Senior Krista Thorpe and junior Mallory Thompkins both shot a two round total of 170 (+26) to lead the way for the Cobras.  Sophomore Taylor Demby came in next with a score of 171 (+27), while freshman Amber Harman and Taylor Gaskins rounded out the starting five for the Navy and Yellow posing two day totals of 180 (+36) and 184 (+40) respectively.

Host Armstrong Atlantic State University took home the team title with a 36 hole total of 619 (+43), edging Flagler College by just four strokes. Armstrong Atlantic's Kiley Mettler took home the individual title with a two round total of 149 (+5).

The ladies take a short break and then hit the road again on March 10, as they head to Hilton Head, S.C. for the Hilton Head Lakes Invitational.
