Women's Basketball Drops Conference Contest at No. 10 Tusulum on Saturday

GREENEVILLE, TENN. - The Coker University women's basketball team dropped its South Atlantic Conference contest at No. 10 Tusculum on Saturday (Jan. 16) by a score of 92-51.

The Pioneers began the game on a 9-0 run, eventually extending their lead into double digits. Tusculum led 28-9 after one quarter.

Tusculum would stretch its lead further in the second quarter, holding the Cobras to five points in the frame.

The Cobras would nearly match the Pioneers in scoring in the third quarter, finding their offensive groove for 24 points in the period.

Coker nearly matched Tusculum on the scoreboard again in the fourth quarter, as the Pioneers remained undefeated on the season with the victory.

Ahlea Myers came on strong in the second half to pace the Cobras with 12 points, while Abigail Keesling and Raya Coley each had nine points in the game. Six other Cobras scored in the contest. Keesling paced the Cobras on the glass with eight boards, narrowly missing her first career double-double. Eight other Cobras were active in the rebounding effort. Myers and Coley each dished out a team-high three assists in the game, while Hope Richardson, Keesling and Je'Nya Wilder each registered one. Emily Davis and Wilder each recorded two steals in the game, while Myers, Keesling and Avahna Baker each had one.   

The Cobras are back in action at the DeLoach Center on Saturday (Jan. 23) to host Lenoir-Rhyne. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m. with video and live stats available at www.cokercobras.com.
