HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker College women's basketball team is just under a month away from the start of their season, but they have still been making time in their busy schedule to volunteer in the community.

The Cobras began their work by volunteering with the American Family Day in Greenville, South Carolina as team members and coaches helped in a variety of ways. "Our job was to give service with a smile and to do our part to make everyone's day as enjoyable as possible," remarked head coach Shannon Johnson.

Another way the team has been proactive in the local community is through the Meals on Wheels program, in which the players take time out of their day to deliver hot meals to local senior citizens. The Cobras also participated in the WBCA Day of Service with Meals on Wheels at Davis Daycare in Hartsville, South Carolina During this event the players interacted with children and participated in activities ranging from helping with homework to dancing with the younger children. Coach Johnson was thrilled with her team's work, adding, "seeing the way those kids' faces lit up while we were there means so much to us and the way our team embraced this opportunity is priceless, it was truly a great day to be a Cobra."
