Cobras Host Bears in Conference Opener

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College women's basketball team will host the Lenoir-Rhyne University Bears on Wednesday (Nov. 29) evening in the DeLoach Center at Dan Schmotzer Court. Opening tip is set for 6 p.m. This will be a Fangs United game and all Coker student-athletes and fans are encouraged to wear white for a white-out. The Navy and Gold head into tomorrow's game with a balanced attack that includes four players averaging eight or more points per game. Erin Houser leads Coker with 9.0 points per game, while Hayley Kropp and Janea Williams trail Houser with 8.8 points per game. Iresha Cooper is the final Cobra averaging eight or more points on the year with 8.4 per game. 

On the defensive end, Williams has anchored the Navy and Gold with a team-leading 10 rebounds per game, which leads the South Atlantic Conference. Williams also leads Coker in blocks with 2.2 per game. In addition, Kropp has contributed on the defensive end, averaging a team-high 1.4 steals per game. 

Lenoir-Rhyne enters tomorrow's contest with a 3-3 record. Madi Suddreth leads the Bears offensively, averaging 20.2 points per game, good for the second highest total in the conference. 

As mentioned, opening tip is set for 6 p.m. Tickets for the game are $5 for adults, $3 for students, and free to all Coker faculty, staff, and students.
