HARTSVILLE, S.C.- Laura Ajukwa has signed her National Letter of Intent to play basketball for Coker College, head coach Shannon Johnson announced today.

Ajukwa comes to Hartsville from Ridge View High School where she played basketball for the Blazers. She averaged 13.2 points per game, 7.4 rebounds per game, 4.3 steals per game and 3.1 assists per game, while being selected to the All-Region team. She participated in the City vs. State All-Star Game, as well as the South Carolina vs. Georgia All-Star Game. She was a member of a Blazers team that won the Carolina Invitational Holiday tournament, and also a member of a regional championship team.

Off the court, she made honor roll all four years and was nominated for the Junior Honor Society.

"Laura is a post player that can play both the No. 3 and No. 4 spots on the floor," said Johnson. "She will give us more quickness in the post, and her speed and agility will also be an asset on the defensive end for us," said Johnson.

The Columbia, S.C. native is the daughter of Barnaba and Esther Ajukwa, and plans to study biology. She has three siblings, Austin, Peace and Michael. Austin is a member of the UNC Charlotte men's basketball team, while Peace attends College of Charleston.

Ajukwa joins Johnson's 2017-18 recruiting class at Coker.
