Cobras Fall in Season Finale at Carson-Newman

JEFFERSON CITY, TENN.- Coker women's basketball dropped its season finale at Carson-Newman 95-71 on Saturday (Feb. 25).

The Cobras trailed 24-15 after the opening 10 minutes, with Coker battling to keep it close midway through the frame. With about three minutes left, Coker trailed 17-8, before a Lindsey Adams long ball got the game to 17-11. Shay Jackson would knock down a pair of free throws to get Coker within four, and that was the closest Coker would get for the rest of the frame.

Coker held a closer second quarter, staying within five in the quarter. However, the Eagles would take a 44-30 lead to the locker room. Carson-Newman would score 36 points in the third, to Coker's 25 in the frame. Coker would win the fourth quarter 20-15 to end the game and the season with the loss.

Sydney Shull led the Cobras with 18 points, while Adams continued her hot streak pouring in 16. Six other Cobras tallied points in the game. As a team, Coker out-rebounded the Eagles 42-32 and out-scored the home team 21-14 on second chances.

The loss concludes the 2016-17 women's basketball season.
