Cobras Fall in Overtime After Barton’s Second Half Surge

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College women's basketball team fell 73-64 in overtime to the visiting Barton College Bulldogs on Thursday (Nov. 19) in non-conference action. 

The Cobras used a pair of 18-point quarters and a 10-1 run to close out the second quarter to take a commanding 36-22 lead going into the locker rooms. 

However, the Bulldogs would cut the Coker lead to just five at the end of the third quarter and would take the lead 51-50 lead with just 1:14 left in the game. After a made basket, the Bulldogs extended the lead to 53-50. Jazz Green would connect on three free throws in the last 40 seconds to force overtime.

In overtime, an 8-2 Barton run in the first two minutes gave them a 61-55 advantage. The two teams traded buckets, but six made free throws in the last 40 seconds sealed the Bulldogs 73-64 win. 

Sydney Shull led the way for the Cobras offensively; she had a team-high 15 points and seven rebounds. Jazz Green and Terrika Foster each recorded a double-double. Foster finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Green finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

The Cobras will now hit the road for the three-game road trip beginning on Saturday when they take on UNC Pembroke at 1 p.m.
