Kristmundsdottir's Three Leads Cobras to 69-68 SAC Victory Over Tornados

BREVARD, N.C. – The Coker women's basketball team picked up a nail biting, 69-68, South Atlantic Conference win over the Brevard College Tornados on Saturday (Feb. 14) afternoon.

The Cobras would use an 8-1 run to open the game, which was capped by senior Hailey Yohn's 200th career three-pointer. Coker would eventually open up a 17-4 lead, but the Tornados would chip away at the lead and go into the break down one, 34-33.

The second half would be a slugfest, as neither team would take a lead larger than five. With Brevard up 68-66 with under a minute to go, Coker's Heidrun Kristmundsdottir would give Coker a 69-68 lead with 10 seconds left on the clock. Coker's defense would secure the victory, forcing a charge by a Brevard player with 1.9 left on the clock.

Priscilla Fenty and Kiara Shoats led the Cobra offense with 15 points apiece, while Kelley Godbout and Tanesha Stenson chipped in 11 and 10 points, respectively. In addition to her game-winner, Kristmundsdottir registered a game-high eight assists.

Coker will continue its road trip with a visit to Wingate University on Wednesday (Feb. 18). Tip-off against the Bulldogs is slated for 6 p.m.
