HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker women's basketball team picked up a hard-fought, 67-62, South Atlantic Conference victory against the Railsplitters of Lincoln Memorial University on Saturday (Jan. 31) afternoon.

Nine Cobras found the score column, with four notching double figures in the victory. Leading the way was Tanesha Stenson with 14 points, nine rebounds, four assists and two steals. Hailey Yohn poured in 12 points, all from beyond the arc, while Kelley Godbout and Lyric Levester added 11 points apiece.

The Navy and Yellow would come out the gates firing on all cylinders, taking an early 18-6 lead over the Railsplitters. Lincoln Memorial would answer with a 13-0 run to take a slim 19-18 lead late in the half. The two teams would trade baskets the rest of the half and head into the locker rooms knotted at 29-all.

The slugfest would continue deep into the second half, with neither team taking a lead larger than five points. With just under two minutes left in the game, Lincoln Memorial would score to take a 59-58 lead. However, freshman Sydney Shull's clutch jumper with 1:49 left on the clock would give Coker its final lead of the game. Timely free throw shooting and solid defense would secure the 67-62 victory for the Cobras.

The Navy and Yellow will hit the road for its next game against the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears on Wednesday (Feb. 4). The SAC tilt is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start in Hickory, N.C.
