Cobras Have Sights Set on Taking Down the Eagles

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College women's basketball team will be back at the DeLoach Center on Saturday (Jan. 17) to take on the visiting Carson-Newman University Eagles in a South Atlantic Conference game. Live stats and broadcast will be brought to you at www.cokercobras.com.

The Cobras will look to continue their strong play in the friendly confines of the DeLoach Center as they have won four of their last six in Hartsville.

The Navy and Yellow have continuously been led by senior Tanesha Stenson whose 13.7 points and 7.8 rebounds are team highs as well as seventh-best in the SAC. Senior Kelley Godbout's contribution will also be vital as she ranked in the top 25 in the SAC in points per game with 10.3 and field goal percentage at 42.9 percent. Hailey Yohn's shooting from behind the arc has been electric as of late as she ranked 12th in three-point percentage at 34.6 percent, while Godbout ranks 15th at 33.3 percent.

The Eagles travel to Hartsville with a 13-2 overall record and are 7-2 in conference after an overtime road loss to Brevard. They are led by freshman Jessica Simerly who is averaging 11.9 points and 6.3 rebounds a game. She is also shooting a conference-high 62.3 percent from the field.

Game time is set for 2 p.m.) with the doors of the DeLoach Center opening at 1 p.m. Tickets are $15 for reserved seats, $5 dollars for adults, $3 dollars for students, and free for all Coker students, faculty and staff.
