Cobras Drop SAC Opener to Regionally Ranked Wolves

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker women's basketball team dropped a 67-58 SAC contest to the No. 10 regionally ranked Wolves of Newberry College on Wednesday (Nov. 19) night.

The first half would be a back-and-forth battle as Coker and Newberry traded baskets. Newberry would use a late run in the opening period to go into the half up 35-26.

The Navy and Yellow would slowly chip away at Newberry's lead in the second half; and finally knot the game up at 46-all following a Kim Manning jump shot with 7:05 left in the game. However, the Wolves would close out the game with a 21-12 run to preserve a 67-58 win over the Cobras.

Leading the way for Coker was Hailey Yohn with 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting, including 4-for-6 from beyond the arc. Tanesha Stenson added a double-double performance of 10 points and 11 rebounds, while Kelley Godbout tallied 10 points, seven rebounds and two steals.

The Navy and Yellow will hit the road and travel to Tennessee for a SAC matchup with the Carson-Newman Eagles on Saturday (Nov. 22). The game is slated for a 2 p.m. start.
