Stenson's Career Day Sends Cobras to Conference Tournament

GREENVILLE, TENN. – Tanesha Stenson's scored a career-high 33 points with six rebounds and two steals to lead Coker to a 79-68 win against Tusculum College on Saturday (Mar. 1) in South Atlantic Conference basketball action. The win ensures the Cobras of a spot in the SAC postseason tournament.

In addition to Stenson's 33 points, Priscilla Fenty added 18 points and pulled down a team-high eight boards. Hailey Yohn chipped in eight off the bench, while Kelley Godbout and Heidrun Kristmundsdottir both scored seven points and collected six rebounds apiece.

Coker came out strong and managed to a 39-23 lead into half. The offensive barrage would continue in the second half as the Navy and Yellow opened up a 20-point lead on the Pioneers after a Stenson layup made it 59-39. Tusculum would chip away and get the lead down to seven at 75-68 with one minute to go in the game, but a pair of free throws and late layup by Kristmundsdottir would give Coker the 79-68 win.

Coker will be on the road this Wednesday (Mar. 5) for its quarterfinal matchup with the Bears of Lenoir-Rhyne University. A time has yet to be set for the contest.
