Stenson's "And One" Leads Cobras to 65-64 Win at Brevard

BREVARD, N.C. – It was an old-fashioned three point play from Tanesha Stenson that led the Coker women's basketball team to a 65-64 SAC win over Brevard College on Saturday (Feb. 15).  With the win the Cobras go to 11-10 on the year and 9-8 in league play.

With 25 second remaining in regulation, the Navy and Yellow found themselves down 62-64 after a pair of Brevard free throws.  The Tornados' lead was short lived however, after Stenson drove down the lane to connect on a layup and draw the foul.  With the score now tied at 64, the junior guard stepped to the charity strip and knocked down a free throw to take the 65-64 advantage with just 19 seconds remaining.  Brevard would have an opportunity in the closing seconds, but Coker's defense would contest every shot causing Brevard to miss the go ahead bucket.

Jessica Cohen led the team with 17 points and 8 reboudns.  Priscilla Fenty was next on the scoring list with 12 points, while Patricia Sullivan and Jasmine Evans collected 11 and 10 points respectively.

Coker will be back in action this Monday (Feb. 17) as they travel to face Catawba in a vital SAC matchup.  Game time is set for 6:00 p.m., followed by the men's game t 8:00.
