Coker Looking to Stay on Top of SAC Standings Against Catawba

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – After picking up a big 72-66 road win over Anderson to tie for first place in the SAC, the Coker women's basketball team will return home this Wednesday (Jan. 15) to host Catawba in another conference competition.  A live video webcast will be available at www.cokercobras.com.

The Cobras enter the competition at 8-4 on the year, and 6-2 in the conference.  Led by junior guard Tanesha Stenson, the navy and yellow offense is averaging nearly 71 points per game in January while the defense has been holding SAC opponents to just 61 points.  Stenson leads the team in both points and steals with 16 and 1.8 per game, respectively.

Hailey Yohn and Priscilla Fenty are also contributing double-digit scoring on the offensive end.  Yohn has been a deep threat all year, shooting 37 percent from three-point range and averaging 11.2 points per game.  Fenty is shooting an efficient 55 percent from the floor to average 10.5 points per game, while also snagging down 6.4 rebounds per game.

The Indians are entering the game with an overall record of 7-5 and a conference record of 5-3.  Catawba lost their most recent competition to Brevard, by a score of 71-66.  Chloe Bully and Mallary Clay lead the charge for Catawba offensively, with averages of 14.6 points per game and 11.3, respectively.

Wednesday's game is also first responders night.  All first-response personnel such as fire, police, and emergency medical service workers, will receive free admission to the game.

Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. followed by the men's game at 8:00 p.m.  Tickets will be available at the door for $5 dollars for adults, $3 dollars for students, and free to all Coker students, faculty, and staff.
