Coker Takes 72-66 Win Over Anderson

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Coker women's basketball team defeated Anderson 72-66 in a SAC matchup on Saturday (Jan. 11), at the Abney Center.  With the win Coker improves to 8-4 on the year and 6-2 in conference action.

It was a competitive first 20 minutes as both teams exchanged points late into the first half.  At the four-minute mark Coker had a slight 30-28 advantage, but then proceeded to go on a 9-2 offensive run to take a 39-30 lead into the locker room.

The Trojans came out in the second half and battled back to a 66-66 tie at the two minute mark.  Five straight points from Tanesha Stenson however would give the Cobras a comfortable five point cushion, followed by a free throw from Kelley Godbout to preserve the win.

Stenson lead all scorers in the game with 18 points, while collecting 11 rebounds.  Godbout had 14 points of her own, while Hailey Yohn contributed 11.

The navy and yellow will return home on Wednesday (Jan. 15) to host Catawba in a SAC matchup.  Game time is slatted for a 6:00 p.m. start.
