Coker Falls to GRU Augusta, 66-55

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker women's basketball team lost 66-55 to GRU Augusta in a non conference competition on Saturday (Dec. 21).  With the loss the Cobras end 2013 with an overall record of 5-4.

Coker's offense struggle early in the competition, as the Jaguars jumped out to a 22-12 lead midway through the first half.  The Cobras would close the gap to a single digit deficit, but GRU would end the half with a 13-5 run to take a 38-22 lead into the break. 

Coker came out of the locker room and battled back to within single digits.  With just over nine minutes remaining Coker trailed GRU by a score of 49-42.  The Jaguars however, would connect on 14-of-19 second half free throws to keep their lead and eventually preserve the win. 

Leading the way for the Cobras was forward Priscilla Fenty who chipped in 11 points and snagged eight rebounds.  Hailey Yohn would also net 11 points, while Tanesha Stenson added 10 more to the scoreboard. 

Coker's next competition will come next Saturday (Jan. 4), as they host Brevard in a SAC competition.  Game time is set for a 2:00 p.m. start time.
