Lau Sisters Combine for 44-points as Cobras Fall to Barton

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker women's basketball team lost to Barton College (15-4, 14-1) 83-67 in a Conference Carolinas match on Wednesday (Feb. 6).  With the loss the Cobras fall to 12-9 on the year and 8-7 in league play.

The Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead and never looked back.  A first half offensive surge propelled the Bulldogs to a 52-37 lead at the break.  Barton only scored one point higher than the Cobras in the second half (31-30), but the first half deficit was too much for Coker to overcome.

Twin sisters Autumn and Amber Lau led the Cobras with 26 and 18 points each adding up to more than 65-percent of the Cobra scoring on the night.

As a team, Coker shot 46-percent from the floor but it was not enough to negate Barton's 67-percent from three-point range, along with 24 second chance points.  Nyesha Willie led the Bulldogs in scoring with 25-points.

Coker will look to bounce back this Saturday (Feb. 9), as they travel to face North Greenville in a Conference Carolinas match-up.  The game is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start time.
