McElveen Jr. Named SPC Credit Union Student-Athlete of the Month for April

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - Coker College men's track and field student-athlete Tony McElveen Jr. has been named the SPC Credit Union Student-Athlete of the Month for April after an impressive month on the track. 

The senior sprinter from Florence, South Carolina kicked off the month by recording the fastest wind-aided 100-meter time in Coker history at 10.55 seconds at the Gamecock Invitational, which also met the provisional qualifying time needed for nationals. He also set both the all-conditions and wind-legal school records in the 100-meters with a nationally-qualifying time of 10.50 seconds in the prelims, and a finals time of 10.72 seconds at the SAC Championship. McElveen Jr. finished fourth overall in the event, and now ranks 20th in the country at the Division II level. He is also a member of the 4x100 team that set a school record, combining for a national qualifying time of 41.00 seconds, that ranks 27th overall in Division II.

He is the son of Vestina and Tony McElveen and has one sibling, Gabrielle.
