Four Cobras Named to NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field All-Region Honorees

NEW ORLEANS, La.- Noelia Leake, Darroneshia Lott, Charity Snelling and Brandon Mullins have been named 2018 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field All-Region Honorees as it was announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Monday, May 14. 

Noelia Leake earned her honors in the 100-meter and 200-meter events. Leake broke her own record in the 200-meter at the SAC Indoor Championship for a fourth place finish. She set the Coker record in the 100-meter dash, securing an Individual Championship at the UNCW Seahawk Invitational. In the outdoor season, Leake finished third at the SAC Championships in the 100-meter and 200-meter races. Additionally, Leake set the Coker record in the 200-meter dash with a first place finish at the Phoenix Invitational.

Next, senior runner Darroneshia Lott has been recognized for her efforts in the 400-meter, 800-meter, and 1500-meter events. Lott is the first cross country All-American in school history. A five-time SPC Credit Union Student-Athlete of the Month and two-time South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Track Athlete of the Week, Lott qualified for both Division II Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Championships, as well as the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships this season. Lott was also named to the SAC outdoor track preseason watch list and to the All-Region Team for the indoor season. Lott holds multiple Coker records in all three of her events. In the indoor track records, Lott holds the top six times in the 800-meter. In the outdoor records, she ranks in the top spot in the 400-meter, the top seven in the 800-meter, and the best top-four times in the 1500-meter.

Rounding out the women's honorees is Charity Snelling, awarded for her marks in the high jump. Snelling brought home a second place finish in the high jump at the Outdoor South Atlantic Conference Championship with a jump of 1.62-meters. At the Indoor South Atlantic Conference Championship, she jumped to a third place finish with a mark of 1.57-meters. Earlier in the season at the Charleston Southern University Spring Break Invitational, Snelling tabbed an Individual Championship with a jump of 1.60-meters.

Brandon Mullins was the only member of the Men's program to tab the honor. Mullins received the mark for his efforts in the 800-meter event during the course of the season. Brandon's best performance in the 800-meter came with a seventh place finish at the University of Virginia Grand Prix (April 28), with a time of 1:51.80 earning a Division II Provisional. He also claimed an Individual Championship in the 800-meter.

Lott is set to compete at the 2018 NCAA Outdoor National Championships in both the 1500-meter and 800-meter events. The preliminary race for the 1500-meter is scheduled for May 24 at 5:25 p.m., with the 800-meter preliminary race tabbed for May 25 at 6:20 p.m. The Finals will be held on that Saturday, May 26 with the 1500-meter taking place at 3:55 p.m. and the 800-meter at 5:15 p.m.
