Coker Excels at SAC Championships, Put Exclamation Mark on Historical Season

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Marking territory in Charlotte, N.C. at the 2018 South Atlantic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, the Coker College men's track and field team proved to be a force to be reckoned with on Friday, April 20. In the second day of the Championships, five Coker College program records were broken, while the 4x400-meter squad took first in the respective event. 

Behind the efforts of Mahari Greene, Will Mosley, Brandon Mullins and Jarrell Mumford, the four combined to run a 3:17.56 in the men's 4x400-meter race, bringing home a first place finish for the title and a new program record.

Mullins also took part in the men's 800-meter race, claiming a third place podium finish. Crossing the line in the time of 1:51.84, Mullins set a new Coker record while legging a provisional NCAA qualifying time ranking him the 23rd fastest in NCAA Division II. Additionally, Tony McElveen Jr. hauled in a fifth place finish in the 100-meter dash in the time of 10.58 seconds, a new Navy and Gold record.

Derrian Moreau, Mumford, Greene, and McElveen Jr. each contributed a part in the 4x100-meter relay. The four claimed a third place finish in the time of 41.77 a new Coker record.

In the 200-meter, Jarrell Mumford secured a fourth place finish and the second fastest time at Coker running a 21.83.

Running in the 110-meter hurdles, Moreau and Richelieu Valery finished fifth and sixth in the times of 15.46 and 15.68 seconds respectively.

Additionally, Kace Faulkner launched for a new program record in the discus with a distance of 118' 3".

Next on the docket, should the Cobras have members advance, will be the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships held May 24-26.
