Cobras Men Set to Take on SAC Indoor Track and Field Championships

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- The Coker College men's track and field team will travel to Winston-Salem, N.C. on Monday (Feb. 19) to take on the South Atlantic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships. Events are scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. Results from the championships can be found by visiting www.cokercobras.com

The Cobras last competed at the two-day Camel City Invitational on Friday and Saturday Feb. 2-3. Coker made good marks in day one of events. Kace Faulkner, Luke Elliott, and Brandon Mullins each came close to eclipsing program records.

Faulkner took on the weight throw event and tossed a length of 37' 6" to put himself second all-time in Coker's record book.

Elliott followed in the one-mile race, crossing the line in 4:41.46 lifting himself to second place all-time in program history.

Brandon Mullins then tackled the men's 800-meter race placing 15th overall in 1:56.80 to take over second place all-time at Coker. Razzel Kiplaget also ran and pushed across the line in 2:01.05, which is good for sixth all-time.

Mahari Green and Jarrell Mumford took their talents in the 400-meter event with times of 52.47 and 52.67 seconds respectively. Both times move into the top-five in fastest times in Navy and Gold history.

Closing out the afternoon, Tony McElveen Jr. raced in the men's 60-meter preliminary heat, finishing 14th overall in 6.97 seconds to put him fourth overall in Cobras history.

On the second day the Navy and Gold brought home a new record in the shot put event thanks to Kace Faulkner. Richelieu Valery McElveen Jr. also made their marks up the Coker leaderboards.

Faulkner now holds the Navy and Gold record for the shot put event after tossing a length of 39' 4.50". This mark surpasses the old record by 2' .50".

Valery took on the 60-meter hurdles and crossed the line in 8.60 seconds, good for fourth all-time in Coker history.

McElveen Jr. competed in the 200-meter dash and finished in 23.02 seconds, which put him fifth all-time in program history.
