The men's track and field squad brings back a lot of talented runners and participants for the new season. Among those, Brandon Mullins and Tony McElveen Jr. set the tone for the squad. Last season Mullins received All-Region honors and finished runner-up in the 800-meter, which set a new school record with the time of 1:53.58. McElveen Jr. broke the Coker 200-meter outdoor season time at the SAC Championships last season as well, with a mark of 21.87 seconds, where he finished fifth, and fourth in the 100-meter.

Conversely for the women's program, highly-decorated Darroneshia Lott and Noelia Leake provide esteemed leadership on the track. Lott, a senior, is coming off of an All-American finish from last season, and also picked up All-American honors in the fall for cross country as well. She posted her personal best with a time of 2:07.40 in the 800-meter. Lott was also named to the All-Southeast Region Team and set the Coker record in the 1500 with a time of 4:36.75, taking the conference title in both the 1500 and 800-meter races. Leake too was tabbed as an All-Region selection in the outdoor season, bringing home the conference title in the 100-meter dash, running a time of 12.06 seconds.

As mentioned, the 2017-18 men's and women's track and field season will get underway on Saturday (Dec. 2) in Winston-Salem, N.C. at 9:30 a.m for the JDL Kick-Off Classic.
