Cobras Record Three Top Ten Finishes at JDL College Kick-Off Classic

WINSTON_SALEM, N.C. – The Coker College men's track and field team wrapped up competition at the JDL College Kick-Off Classic on Saturday (Dec. 3). 

Zafir Abdus-Salaam picked up the top finish for the Cobras, notching a fifth-place showing in the triple jump. He picked up his top mark of 14.08 meters in the final attempt.

Marc Bryant's high jump of 1.90 meters earned him a seventh place finish in his Coker debut.

Brandon Mullins rounded out the top-ten finishes for the Cobras, placing eighth in the 800-meter dash. He ran a time of 1:58.85

The Cobras also rewrote the record books in several categories.

Jamal Shaw's 60-meter time of 7.10 is a new Coker men's track and field record.

Abdus-Salaam's triple jump mark of 14.08 meters (46' 2.5") shattered the previous top mark of 43'11.25"

In the shot put, Brandon Campbell's distance of 37' 4" is the second-best in Coker history.

Luke Elliot's mile time of 4:48.54 came in ranked fourth in the Coker record books.

The Cobras will be back in action on Saturday (Jan. 14) when they travel to the UNC Open.
