Strong Showing by Cobras at Palmetto Classic

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – The Coker Cobras men's track & field team had an extremely strong showing at the Palmetto Classic on Friday (Mar. 6).

The strong showing began with the track events with Giouliana Andrade's fourth place finish with a time of 11.73 seconds in the 100-meter dash. Derrian Moreau placed seventh in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.12 seconds.

In the 800-meter run Noah Cook took eighth with a time of 2:04.60 and James Gregory took 15th with a time of 2:08.84.

A trio of Cobras placed in the top 35 of the one-mile run. Nick Mascardo led the way with a 10th place finish, while James Gregory came in 21st and Peter Kemboi placed 34th. Jacob Chebii and Kemboi placed seventh and eighth in the 5000-meter run.

Naim Fareed picked up a second place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 58.46. He also placed fourth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.76. Moreau earned a sixth place finish in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.10.

Dyaln Bates took home second place honors in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:15.79.

In the field events, Cole McDowell came in fourth in the long jump with a distance of 5.93 meters. He also placed second in the triple jump with a distance of 12.79 meters.

Brandon Campbell came in fourth in the shot put with a distance of 8.89 meters. He also placed seventh in the hammer throw with a distance of 13.66 meters

The Cobras will be back in action on Friday (Mar. 13) at the Coastal Carolina Invitational.
