Coker Track and Field Gets Accustom to Hartsville Through Community Service

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker track and field team participated in the 9/11 Day of Service by working the 2nd Annual Kalmia Gardens 5K in Hartsville. The team was stationed at the finish line and cheered runners through the finish and while handing them water as they finished. The project was coach Benny Morgan and the new track and field team's first Hartsville experience.

"This was a great experience for the team," said Morgan. "It gave us a chance to get in the community and show our faces, but more importantly it gave us an opportunity to give back. Hartsville and Coker have a lot in common and the most noticeable things are the family-friendly atmosphere and service to your community attitude."

The Coker track and field team kicks off its seasons on Saturday (Jan. 10) at the Winston-Salem State Invitational.
