Cobras Fall to Young Harris in NCAA Regional Opener

DAHLONEGA, GA - The Coker College softball team dropped the opening game of regional tournament to Young Harris 6-0 on Thursday (May 9). The Cobras will now face the loser of North Georgia and Lees-McRae tomorrow at 2:30 PM.

The Mountain Lions opened up the scoring in the top of the first with a three-run home run and never looked back. They added three more in the third to take the game and move into the winner's bracket.

Ashley Meckley, Madison King, and Makayla Shore led the Cobras offensively as they each recorded one hit.

Christine Carver made the start and was credited with a loss after giving up three runs over 1.2 innings. Carver allowed just three hits and struck out a pair of batters. Isabelle Mullen pitched 1.1 innings of relief and also gave up three runs on four hits with a strikeout. Taylor Forehand finished off the game, pitching a scoreless final two innings and striking out a pair of batters.

The Cobras will be back in action on Friday (May 10) when they face the loser of North Georgia and Lees-McRae in an elimination game starting at 2:30 PM.
