Softball Splits SAC Doubleheader at Tusculum

GREENVILLE, Tenn. - The Coker College softball team split their conference doubleader at Tusculum on Saturday (Apr. 13). The Cobras took game one 6-5 before falling in the second game 4-3.

The Cobras opened the first game with a pair of runs in the top of the first inning as Madison King picked up an RBI on a bases-loaded walk and Anna Gluhosky drove in another with a sacrifice fly. The lead would not last long as the Pioneers plated two in the first and another in the second to pull out in front. Chloe Pelham tied it back up in the fourth with an RBI single to score Rebekah Addison and Katelyn Chambers would score the next inning on an infield single by Brianna Strickland. After a Tusculum run in the fifth tied it back up, Strickland put the Cobras back in front for good after she blasted a two-run home run to left field.

Isabelle Mullen started in the circle, going three innings and striking out four batters. Taylor Forehand picked up the win out of the bullpen after tossing four innings while giving up two runs and striking out a pair.

Coker took an early lead once again with a run in the first inning and stretched it to three after Pelham and Gluhosky each drove in a run. Tusculum pulled one back in the fifth and plated three more in the seventh to complete the comeback.

Christine Carver was lights out over five innings as she got the start in the circle. Carver allowed just one run on three hits while striking out three batters. Jordyn Goodman was hit with the loss after allowing three runs over 1.1 inning.

The Cobras will be back in action on Wednesday (Apr. 17) for a crucial South Atlantic Conference doubleheader at Queens starting at 5:00 PM.
