MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - Coker College softball members Christine Carver and Maria Williamson were named to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) Softball All-Southeast Region team, the organization announced today (May 14).

Carver, a sophomore from Waxhaw, N.C., led the Cobras in the circle with 165 innings pitched, giving up just 44 earned runs and 118 hits, while striking out 144 batters, good for fourth in the South Atlantic Conference (SAC). The Cobra pitcher continued to impress throughout the season, finishing with an outstanding 1.87 earned run average, good for the second best mark in the SAC. Additionally, Carver was third in the conference in wins with 19 and threw 13 complete games.

Carver was named SAC Pitcher of the Week not once, but three times throughout her 2018 campaign. She drew national attention on Mar. 7 as she was named Louisville Slugger/NFCA National Pitcher of the Week. The awards continued to pile up for the Coker ace as she was named the SPC Credit Union Student-Athlete of the Month for the month of February, earned first-team All-SAC honors, was named to the SAC All-Tournament Team, and won the Female Breakthrough Athlete of the Year at Coker's FANG Awards. Finally, Carver threw a perfect game back on Feb. 20 in a 3-0 victory over Claflin.

She is the daughter of Lisa and Mike Carver.

Williamson, a junior from Laurens, S.C., led the Cobras in batting average (.454), slugging percentage (.687), hits (74), home runs (10), RBI (52), and walks (28). Her batting average, on base percentage, and hits on the season were the top marks in the SAC. The first baseman racked up accolades throughout the year, earning first-team All-SAC honors, being named to the SAC All-Tournament Team, and most recently earning NFCA Division II All-Southeast Region First-Team honors. In addition, Williamson collected SAC Player of the Week honors on Feb. 20.

She is the daughter of Jenny and L.E. Williamson.

The South Atlantic Conference had 13 honorees on the two teams, while the Peach Belt Conference had 10 and the Conference Carolinas five.
