Coker Places Three on SAC All-Tournament Team

ROCK HILL, S.C.- The Coker College softball team earned three spots on the South Atlantic Conference All-Tournament Team after their runner-up performance in the postseason. Christine Carver, Maria Williamson, and Brianna Strickland each collected the accolade, as voted on by the tournament participant head coaches.

Carver went 2-1 with a 0.56 ERA in her three starts in the tournament. She was also a part of the two shutouts in the quarterfinals and semifinals for Coker. In 16 innings pitched, Carver gave up 12 hits, one earned run, and six walks, while striking out 21 batters. Opponents hit just .200 against the ace. In the field, she assisted on two putouts for a fielding percentage of 1.000.

Williamson had the best batting average of first basemen in the tournament at .750. In her three starts, she was up to bat eight times, finishing with six hits (including a double), one run, three RBI, seven total bases, three walks, a slugging percentage of .875, and an on base percentage of .818. In 12 opportunities in the field, Williamson contributed nine putouts, two assists, and just one error for a percentage of .917.

Strickland compiled a .375 batting average in her three starts in right field. In her eight at bats, she added two runs, three hits, a three-RBI home run, and six total bases for a slugging percentage of .750 and on base percentage of .375. Strickland also contributed a stolen base. In the field, she was responsible for four putouts and one assist for a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.
