Coker Drops Two to Bobcats

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga.- The Coker College softball team traveled to Georgia to continue their weekend road trip, this one taking place at Georgia College. The Cobras fell 8-2 and 13-5 (5) to the Bobcats.

Game One

The Cobras started off slow on both sides of the ball, falling behind 8-0 through four innings.

Bats started coming alive for Coker in the fifth and six, scoring a run in each inning.

In the top of the fifth, Katelyn Chambers drew a walk. Alex Alverson sacrifice bunted Chambers over to second. Cacey Simmons brought the runner in on her RBI single to right field.

Breanna Ard led off the top of the sixth inning with a single through the right side. Anna Gluhosky reached on a fielder's choice, with Ard getting out at second. Lilli Otten followed up with a single through the left side, moving Gluhosky to second. Coming in as a pinch hitter, Allyson High RBI singled to center field, advancing to second on the throw, Otten went to third, and Gluhosky scored.

Game Two

Coker came out hot in game two, garnering three runs to open the game.

Mindy North led off the first with a single to third base. High was hit by a pitch, moving North to second. Maria Williamson walked to load the bases. Hannah Goodman singled to right center, bringing home North and High, for two RBI. While Gluhosky struck out, Goodman stole second. The catcher overshot the shortstop in an attempt to catch Goodman stealing, resulting in Williamson crossing home plate for a run.

The Cobras also struck in the third inning with a Simmons monster solo home run to right field.

In the fifth, Simmons singled to the shortstop and stole second on consecutive plays. Williamson drove her in from second on a RBI single through the left side.

The Bobcats retaliated with three runs in the first, five in the second, three in the third, and two in the fifth to run-rule the Cobras.

The Navy and Gold stay on the road for one more series to take on SAC foe, the Wingate University Bulldogs, Wednesday (Mar. 21). First pitch of the day is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
