Carver Earns Louisville Slugger/NFCA National Pitcher of the Week Honor

LOUISVILLE, Ky.- Coker softball's Christine Carver received the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) National Pitcher of the Week for Feb. 26-Mar. 4, as announced by the NFCA on Wednesday (Mar. 7).

The sophomore right-handed pitcher went 3-0 on the week, including a stellar outing over nationally ranked No. 2 North Georgia. All three victories were complete games, allowing three earned runs on 11 hits in 21 innings pitched, alongside 21 strikeouts. Carver, a Waxhaw, N.C. native, only gave up two runs and three hits to the No. 2 Nighthawks while striking out a season-high 12 batters.

On the season, Carver has appeared in 12 games, starting 11 of them. She goes into the week with a 10-1 record and has earned a save. Nine of her outings were complete games with four shutouts. Carver has pitched 72.2 innings, allowing 44 hits, 13 earned runs, walked 16, and struck out 67 batters faced.

Carver currently ranks second in wins and fourth in shutouts across Division II, as of Sunday (Mar. 4).

The political science major is the daughter of Lisa and Mike Carver.
