Cobras Square Off Against Valkyries

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- The Coker softball team hosts Converse College on Friday (Feb. 9) afternoon. The Cobras defeated Southern Wesleyan in both games this past weekend, run-ruling them in the second game.

Maria Williamson had an outstanding opening day. Throughout her seven at bats, she had five hits, two doubles, scored three runs, batted in three runners, and batted with an average of .714. Christine Carver and Taylor Forehand picked up victories in the circle, combining for an impressive 1.17 ERA and nine strikeouts.

The Cobras have scored 16 runs, collected 15 hits with six doubles, 14 RBI, and stole four bases.

Converse was swept by both USC Aiken and Anderson (S.C.) to begin their season. They have given up 38 runs, while only scoring four.

Game one is set for a 1:00 p.m. start, with the gates of Saleeby-Stokes Softball Field opening at 12:00 p.m. Game two will begin at approximately 3:00 p.m.
