Coker Brings in Bearcats for Mid-Week Series

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- The Coker softball team continues their home stretch by hosting the Bearcats of Lander University on Wednesday (Feb. 7) afternoon. The Cobras defeated Southern Wesleyan in both games this past weekend, run-ruling them in the second game.

Maria Williamson had an outstanding opening day. Throughout her seven at bats, she had five hits, two doubles, scored three runs, batted in three runners, and batted with an average of .714. Christine Carver and Taylor Forehand picked up victories in the circle, combining for an impressive 1.17 ERA and nine strikeouts.

The Cobras have scored 16 runs, collected 15 hits with six doubles, 14 RBI, and stole four bases.

Lander comes in to tomorrow's matchup after nearly a week off from their two-game sweep of Mars Hill. They scored 14 runs and gave up five in the series with the Lions.

Game one is set for a 1:00 p.m. start, with the gates of Saleeby-Stokes Softball Field opening at 12:00 p.m. Game two will begin at approximately 3:00 p.m.
