Barcomb Named to D2CCA All-Southeast Region First Team

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Coker College softball's Tayler Barcomb was named to the 2017 D2CCA All-Southeast Region First Team as a utility player, the organization announced today.

Barcomb, a senior from St. George, S.C., had a stellar 2017 season splitting time between second base and catcher for the Cobras. She finished the season batting .392 with 73 hits, 57 RBI, 48 runs scored and 21 doubles. Within the South Atlantic Conference, she ranks second in doubles and RBI, third in runs scored and hits, and ninth in batting average. Nationally, her 21 doubles are good for fifth, while her 73 hits and 125 total bases are inside the top-30 in NCAA Division II. She was named SAC Softball Player of the Week on Feb. 7.

In addition, Barcomb was named to the South Atlantic Conference Softball All-Tournament Team for her excellent offensive performance throughout the tournament. She finished the tournament with 26 total bases, 12 hits, 10 RBI, seven runs scored, four home runs and two doubles, all of which led the SAC Tournament. She also finished with a .571 batting average, the second-highest average amongst players that played four or more games.

She is a biology major and is the daughter of Peter and Karen Barcomb.

Fourteen student-athletes from nine different schools earned All-Southeast Region First Team distinction this season.

The first team selections will move on to the All-America ballot. The D2CCA All-America programs honor student-athletes in Division II athletic programs. The mission of the CCA is to encourage and promote Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education. The voting, nominations and calculations are all conducted by the school's sports information directors. The teams are voted on by the members of D2SIDA, NCAA Division II Sports Information Directors Association.
