Cobras and Braves Battle in Midweek Non-Conference Doubleheader

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College softball team (4-0) will be back at home on Wednesday (Feb. 10) to take on the visiting UNC Pembroke Braves in a non-conference doubleheader. Game one is set for 1 p.m. start; with game two slated for 3 p.m. Live stats can be found at www.cokercobras.com.

The Cobras are coming off a pair of two-game sweeps over St. Andrews and Converse to open their season. They outscored the opposition 44-8 during the four-game winning streak, while batting .451 as a unit.

Tayler Barcomb ranks first in the conference in RBIs with 11 and home runs with two, while ranking second with a batting average of .692. Ashley Gallman is tied for first in the conference with five doubles to go along with a .533 batting average. Carylann Geddes and Maria Williamson come in with six RBIs apiece.

In the circle, Tabitha Allen and Taylor Forehand are both 2-0 this season. Allen has a team-best 1.27 ERA, while Forehand has only scattered five hits through 10 innings of work.

The Braves travel to Hartsville with a 1-2 overall record. They are led by Taylor Gerhart, who has a team-high three RBIs.

First pitch is set for 1 p.m. at Saleeby-Stokes Softball Field with gates opening at noon. Game two will begin immediately afterwards. Tickets for the game are available at the gate. Cost is $5 for adults, $3 for students and all Coker faculty, staff and students get in free.
