Coker's Season Comes to an End with 2-1 Loss to Wingate in Extra Innings

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The No. 4 seed Wingate Bulldogs scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to defeat the No. 8 seed Coker Cobras 2-1 on Friday (Apr. 24) in the 2015 South Atlantic Conference Softball Championship.

It was a pitcher's dual through eight innings of softball, as neither team was able to get on the board. Then in the top of the ninth the Cobras jumped out to a 1-0 lead thanks to an RBI double by Carley Bailey that scored Riley Morris. Wingate answered with two runs in the bottom half of the inning to give the Bulldogs the 2-1 victory.

Tabitha Allen (15-18) took the loss for Coker. She went eight and a third innings, allowing two runs on seven hits with a strikeout.

Katelyn Szupello went 2-for-4 with a double and Bailey finished the game 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI to lead the Cobras at the plate.

Coker's season comes to an end with the loss. They finished the year with a record of 24-27.
