Cobras and Wolves to Tussle in SAC Doubleheader

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College softball team will return to the friendly confines of Saleeby-Stokes softball field on Tuesday (Apr. 14) to take on the visiting Newberry College Wolves in a South Atlantic Conference doubleheader. Game one is set for 1 p.m. with game two beginning immediately afterwards. Live stats and video can be found at www.cokercobras.com.

The Cobras hold a 22-21 overall record and an even 8-8 in conference record and picked up a two-game sweep over Wingate last time at home.

The Navy and Yellow are led by outfielder Riley Morris. Morris is in the top ten in the SAC in batting average (.397), RBIs (33), doubles (13) and home runs (8). Ashlee Ellen and Ashley Gallman are third in the SAC with 12 doubles. Ellen also has 23 RBIs and a .321 batting average so far this season. Gallman is batting .344 and has driven in 19 RBIs. Katelyn Szupello is batting .397 which is seventh in the SAC, while Tayler Barcomb has belted six home runs and knocked in 24 RBIs.

Tabitha Allen's 14 wins are fourth best in the conference, while her 2.29 ERA is tenth.

The Wolves come in with a 26-19 overall and a 10-8 in conference record. They are led by Maude McCourry and Jeri Loffler who have 25 RBIs each and are batting .371 and .327 respectively.

Tickets for the game are available at the gate. Cost is $5 for adults, $3 for students and all Coker faculty, staff and students get in free.
